Barrister Oscar Chukwuma Okoro, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for Ikeji-Aro 2025, along with his team, will appear in an interactive session on Love FM 99.9 today from 10:30 to 11:30 AM to discuss issues related to Ikeji Aro-Okeigbo and provide last-minute information about the events scheduled for Friday, September 26th, when the entire 19 villages will participate in a cultural contest.

In a statement, Dr Azubuike Okoro, the Chairman of Publicity for Ikeji-Aro 2025, mentioned that the Committee is preparing to manage the expected surge in human traffic at Amaikpe. Mazi Kingsley Chijioke Oti, the Vice Chairman, expressed optimism that the experience gained from managing Ikeji-Aro in previous years will help the Committee, especially in organising local services effectively.

With just one day to go until the D-day, Ekekpe Aro-Okeigbo, the largest cultural event in Igbo land, is set to begin.

On Wednesday, known as Afor Osu, a significant day in the cultural calendar, those traditionally qualified to prepare the Osu delicacy happily invite and host guests, who in turn appreciate them with gifts. The hard work that goes into preparing the Osu the day before is rewarded with joy and satisfaction, marking a major achievement in the society’s traditional life.

The entire kingdom transformed into a grand celebration yesterday as His Eminence, Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji Eze Aro of Arochukwu, hosted guests and friends for a sumptuous Osu meal at the Palace. Special Ekpo masquerades, along with members of the Aro diaspora communities who arrived early for Ekekpe Aro-Okeigbo, turned the Palace into a vibrant entertainment centre. Eze Aro was heard telling guests that he went to bed around 2 AM but remained awake to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Numerous Eze Ogo and the head of Ibom Isi Kindred, Mazi Amos Ngwu Egbu Okoro, stayed close to the monarch to ensure this year’s Ikeji meets the expectations of Umuaro. Special dignitaries included Mazi Emma Kanu Ivi, Ogene Ukwu Aro, who recently overcame rumours of his death and expressed gratitude to Umuaro for their well-wishes.

Mazi Emeka Anige from All Aro USA, along with several prominent sons and daughters of Aro, were also in attendance. Nkwo Ekpe Ibom Isii and the Ikeji dinner are scheduled for the afternoon and evening today, respectively.

Meanwhile, as previously reported, the atmosphere in Aro is electrified and filled with joy, with no security challenges reported at any level. With the crowd witnessed at Amaikpe Square yesterday causing vehicular movement to come to a standstill, one can only imagine the excitement that will unfold on Ekekpe day.
