Breaking! Court Orders Police to Maintain Status Quo in Tinted Glass Permit Case
The Federal High Court sitting in Warri has issued an interim order directing the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police to maintain the status quo in the ongoing legal challenge concerning the enforcement of tinted glass permits.

The directive came during proceedings in Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025, filed by human rights lawyer John Aikpokpo-Martins against the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force.
The case, which has drawn public interest due to its implications on civil liberties and law enforcement procedures, was heard earlier today.
Delivering the interim order, the court instructed the police authorities to respect ongoing judicial processes and refrain from taking any further actions related to the enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy until the matter is fully resolved.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kunle Edun, who led the claimant’s legal team, welcomed the decision, describing it as a crucial affirmation of the rule of law.
“This directive is a significant step in ensuring that constitutional rights are not trampled upon under the guise of enforcement,” Edun stated after the court session.
Further details of the ruling, including the next adjourned date for the hearing, are expected to be released shortly.
