NBA Notifies Police on Pending Lawsuit Over Tinted Permit Policy
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has issued a formal notice to the Nigeria Police Force regarding the pending legal action challenging the legality of the tinted glass permit policy.

In a statement on Friday, the NBA reminded the Police of the pending suit. FHC/ABJ/CS/1821/2025 is currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to the NBA, continued enforcement of the controversial policy would amount to a disregard of judicial authority and a breach of the rule of law.
The association has therefore demanded the immediate cessation of all police actions relating to the enforcement of the tinted permit scheme.
The NBA, acting through its Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL), has further resolved to initiate contempt proceedings against any police officers who flout the court process.
“The NBA has demanded an immediate abatement of all acts in disregard of the court and has further resolved, through NBA-SPIDEL, to proceed with contempt and disciplinary proceedings against any erring officers.”
“The rule of law must prevail,” the NBA said, reiterating its commitment to protecting constitutional rights and ensuring accountability among security agencies.
The tinted glass permit policy has long been a subject of public debate, with the Police stating that it will commence the enforcement of the policy from October 2, 2025.
