Governor Otti to Light Torch of Unity and Peace for 1st Abia State Tertiary Institutions Games

The maiden edition of the Abia State Tertiary Institutions Games (ABASTIG 2025) will officially begin on Monday, November 10, 2025, with the lighting of the Torch of Unity and Peace at the Nvosi country home of Governor Dr Alex Otti in Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area.

According to a statement signed by Dr Emeka Enyiazu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Education and Chairman of the Central Organising Committee, the symbolic event will be performed by the Governor at noon.

Following the ceremony, the torch will embark on a statewide relay, visiting all participating tertiary institutions, both public and private, before returning to the Umuahia Township Stadium, which will serve as the main venue for the games.

The 1st Abia State Tertiary Institutions Games are scheduled to hold from November 25 to 29, 2025, bringing together students from across the state in a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and excellence and marks a milestone in the promotion of education, youth development, and sports in Abia State.

All stakeholders and members of the public are cordially invited to witness the historic ceremony.
