25 Schoolgirls Abducted as Terrorists Attack Government Girls’ School
A coordinated search-and-rescue operation involving police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes is underway following the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Kebbi State Police Command, the attack occurred in the early hours of November 17, 2025, when armed terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the school around 4:00 a.m., firing sporadically. Police operatives stationed at the school engaged the attackers in a gun duel, but the assailants had already breached the school fence and succeeded in abducting the students.
The police also confirmed that one resident, identified as Hassan Makuku, was shot dead during the incident, while another, Ali Shehu, sustained an injury to his right hand.
Following the attack, police spokesperson, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi said additional police tactical units, soldiers, and vigilante groups were deployed to the affected area. They are currently combing suspected bandit routes and nearby forest areas in an effort to rescue the abducted students and apprehend the perpetrators.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security operations aimed at restoring peace.
On Sunday, terrorists attacked GGCSS Maga in Danko-Wasagu LGA, Kebbi State. They killed Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku and abducted several female students.
This event highlights the severe security crisis that has engulfed schools, families, and communities across Nigeria’s Northwest region.
