Obi Commends Rescue Efforts, Urges Vigilance After Kwara and Niger Abductions
Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has praised the rescue of 38 abducted worshippers from the Eruku Church attack in Kwara State and the escape of about 50 students from a Catholic private school in Niger State, describing the developments as “refreshing” and encouraging.

In a statement, Obi commended security agencies and all individuals involved in the successful operations. He noted that the positive news offers hope amid the growing concerns over insecurity across the country.
However, he stressed that the authorities must not relent until every abducted child is safely reunited with their family, emphasising the emotional trauma the families are enduring.
Obi also called for heightened vigilance, urging security agencies and school administrators nationwide to adopt proactive measures and strengthen security structures to prevent future attacks.
He warned that complacency could embolden criminal elements, and reiterated the need for sustained, coordinated efforts to ensure the safety of citizens, particularly schoolchildren.
