‘Don’t Focus on Tinubu or Akpabio, Call Out Your Senators’ – Sani to Nigerians Over Rejection of Electronic Transmission

Former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Shehu Sani, has stressed that neither President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nor the Senate President Godswill Akpabio should be the primary targets of public criticism in the rejection of the electronic transmission of election results, noting that Akpabio represents only a senatorial district in Akwa Ibom State.

“Don’t focus on the President or Akpabio who is just representing a district in Akwa Ibom. Be brave enough to mention your Senator by name on your handle. Everyone is an adult there,” he added.

In a statement shared on social media on Thursday, Sani said lawmakers were responsible for the decision and should not hide behind the President or Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

According to him, Nigerians who either support or oppose the action should be courageous enough to confront the lawmakers representing their constituencies rather than directing their anger at national figures.

“The lawmakers have rejected the real-time electronic transmission of results. If you like what they did or you don’t like what they did, you should be courageous enough to go to the social media handle of the lawmaker representing your constituency and express your happiness or bitterness,” Sani wrote.

Sani urged citizens to actively engage their representatives and take responsibility for demanding accountability in Nigeria’s democratic process.
