Abia APC Declares Tinubu as the Sole Candidate for 2027 Election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has officially adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The adoption was made during a stakeholders’ meeting that included over 40 former LGA chairmen, past State House of Assembly members, about six former Speakers of the House of Assembly, former and current members of the National Assembly (House of Representatives and Senators), former commissioners, as well as serving federal commissioners and heads of federal agencies appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held on Sunday, 15 February 2026, in Bende.
The well- attended gathering saw party stakeholders unanimously express their ongoing support for President Tinubu and reaffirm their commitment to the policies and programmes of the Federal Government under his leadership.
In a vote of implicit confidence in his leadership, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, was unanimously endorsed as “Party Member 001” and Apex Leader of the Abia State APC.
Stakeholders stated that this endorsement reflected Kalu’s strategic role in strengthening the party’s structure, increasing membership, and broadening its influence across the state.
In response, Rt. Hon. Kalu expressed that the confidence placed in him is humbling and assured that the party belongs to everyone, and therefore, all should take ownership and defend it.
“I am deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me by stakeholders who unanimously called on me to provide leadership for our party in the state. I accept this responsibility with gratitude and a clear understanding of the trust it represents. It is a duty I embrace with commitment and a resolve to strengthen our structures while ensuring greater cohesion within our party.”
He also praised the stakeholders for their roles in the successful registration of over one hundred and sixty thousand (160, 160,000) members within just one month.
A highlight of the meeting was the reception of Hon. Aaron Uzodike, the PDP House member representing Aba North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, who decamped to the APC.
