Lagos Domestic Violence Agency Seeks Contact With Assault Survivor in Viral TikTok Video

In a viral video on TikTok, a young woman has revealed how she was followed, then attacked and raped in her home while the suspect created a fake page to warn her against contacting the authorities.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the agency confirmed that it had taken note of multiple public concerns and tags that drew attention to the video, which was posted on the woman’s TikTok page.

The agency stated that it is actively making efforts to establish contact with the survivor to offer immediate support, appropriate intervention, and to determine her location.

“Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication,” the statement read.

kThe DSVA appealed to members of the public who may have credible information that could help authorities reach the survivor directly and safely to contact the agency through its official social media platforms.

Reaffirming its commitment to protecting residents, the Lagos State Government reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against all forms of domestic and sexual violence.

“Sexual assault is a crime, and every survivor deserves protection, care, support and justice,” the agency stated.

Officials also encouraged survivors of abuse to speak up, assuring the public that all reports are treated with the utmost confidentiality and urgency.

The agency listed several channels through which survivors and concerned individuals can seek help, including the hotline numbers 0813-796-0048 and 0-8000-333-333, the USSD code *6820# (MTN users), its WhatsApp AI chatbox at 0812-893-7058, and its website, ekoselfreport.ng.

The DSVA said further updates would be provided as appropriate.
