Protest Erupts in Taraba Nursing College After Hoodlums Allegedly Rape Student, Cut Off Finger

Students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Science, Jalingo, have staged a peaceful protest following an overnight attack on a female hostel located outside the institution’s premises.

The protesters were said to have taken to the streets on Monday following the alleged invasion of the hostel by hoodlums, who reportedly dispossessed students of their mobile phones and other valuables.

During the attack, a female student was allegedly raped and severely injured by the assailants, who reportedly cut off one of her fingers.

The incident, according to sources, occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 21, 2026, although the initial report described the date as September 11.

The students are demanding improved security around the off-campus hostels and urgent action by relevant authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
