Ogah Calls for Unity as Lent and Ramadan Begin Simultaneously, Seeks Prayers for Abia and Nigeria
Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has described the simultaneous commencement of the Christian Lenten season and the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as a profound spiritual moment and a divine call for national unity.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Abia Rejoice Movement, Dr Ogah said the convergence of the two sacred observances presents a rare and symbolic opportunity for collective reflection, deeper unity, and renewed commitment to the enduring values of faith, sacrifice, love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
According to him, both Lent and Ramadan are solemn periods characterised by fasting, prayer, repentance, and charity, virtues he described as essential not only for personal transformation but also for national renewal.
“This is a profound spiritual moment for our nation,” Ogah stated. “As Christians observe Lent and Muslims fast during Ramadan, I encourage all the faithful to lift Nigeria before God in earnest prayer and supplication. Let us seek divine wisdom and guidance to overcome our challenges and work together to build a more united, prosperous, and peaceful country.”
He called on Christians and Muslims to use the sacred period to seek divine intervention in the affairs of Abia State and Nigeria at large, urging fervent prayers for national unity, economic stability, improved security, purposeful leadership, and lasting peace across the country.
Ogah also extended his goodwill to both faith communities, wishing Christians a spiritually fulfilling Lenten season and Muslims a blessed and rewarding Ramadan. He prayed that the sacred period would bring renewed strength, abundant blessings, and enduring hope to families in Abia State and across the nation.
