ADC Clarifies Tenure Transition For Newly Elected Executives
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed that the tenure of all newly elected state executives and other party officers will not begin until the expiration of the current leadership’s term and their formal inauguration by the party.

In a statement released on Friday by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party emphasised that the official swearing-in of the new executives is scheduled for May 12, 2026, or any later date that may be communicated by the party leadership.
The ADC stressed that, until the completion of this constitutional transition process, all existing executives remain the duly recognised officers of the party.
It warned that any premature assumption of office by newly elected officials could disrupt internal order and violate the party’s established guidelines.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all existing executives remain the duly recognised officers of the Party until the completion of this constitutional transition process,” the statement read.
The party further advised all newly elected executives, particularly at the state level, to refrain from any actions, representations, or conduct that may contradict this directive or create confusion within the party’s structure.
