Governor Otti Commends Eze Aro’s Leadership, Reaffirms Support for Arochukwu’s Development
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting development initiatives in Arochukwu Kingdom, commending the visionary leadership of His Eminence, Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji Eze Aro IX, as he marked his second coronation anniversary.

Represented at the ceremony by Mazi Kanu Ohuche, the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, alongside the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Dr Mathew Ekwuruibe, the Governor explained that pressing state matters prevented him from attending personally.
Delivering the Governor’s goodwill message, Mazi Ohuche congratulated the monarch on his two years on the throne, describing his reign as one that has ushered in peace, unity, sustainable development, and renewed hope for the Aro Kingdom.
He said Governor Otti acknowledged the monarch’s remarkable efforts in promoting agriculture, cultural preservation, education, healthcare, tourism, youth development, and security, noting that these priorities align with the vision of the present administration.
The Governor particularly applauded the traditional ruler’s commitment to developing tourism, revealing that work has already commenced on plans to transform the Ibom Waterfalls into a major international tourist destination, a project expected to boost economic activities and attract visitors to the kingdom.
On education, the Governor praised the establishment of the Mary Slessor Library, describing it as a fitting way to immortalise the Scottish missionary while complementing the state’s educational development agenda.
He also commended the monarch’s campaign against youth restiveness, criminality, and drug abuse, assuring him of the state’s support in sustaining peace and security across the kingdom.
Governor Otti further pledged continued collaboration with the traditional institution to promote rural development and peaceful coexistence among communities.
Addressing concerns over ongoing road projects in the area, the Governor appealed for patience, explaining that the rainy season naturally slows construction activities. He, however, assured residents that his administration does not abandon projects once they are initiated.
“I can assure you that before Christmas, this road will be commissioned,” the Governor stated through his representative.
On healthcare, Governor Otti acknowledged the monarch’s medical outreach initiatives, saying they complement the state’s drive toward universal healthcare. He added that ongoing improvements in primary and secondary healthcare facilities, including the Arochukwu General Hospital, are aimed at ensuring residents have access to quality medical services.
The Governor expressed satisfaction with Eze Aro’s performance on the throne, stating that the monarch has justified the confidence reposed in him.
“His Excellency is proud of what you are doing and the manner in which you have carried the office. It shows that your people did not make a wrong choice in making you the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom,” Dr Ohuche said on behalf of the Governor.
