‘Before He Signs Any Paper, He Would Dance’ – Okpebholo Mocks Adeleke Ahead of Poll

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has mocked Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15 governorship election, while urging voters to elect the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Speaking at a political gathering in a viral video, Okpebholo claimed that Adeleke was more interested in dancing than in governance, alleging that this had affected his participation in official engagements.

“Before he signs any paper, he would dance. Before he eats breakfast, he would dance. Are you not tired? I can’t even remember the last time we saw him at a governors’ meeting in Abuja because before he got there, he would dance and by then, the meeting had ended,” Okpebholo said.

He further questioned Adeleke’s leadership style, saying, “Has Osun State not grown tired of having a dancing governor? Before he signs a document, he dances. Before he eats breakfast, he dances. As I was coming to Osun State, even our car tyre was dancing and shaking on the road.”

The Edo governor also called on Osun voters to reject the incumbent administration, drawing parallels with the 2024 Edo governorship election.

“We kicked out Godwin Obaseki in Edo State, and we will also kick his friend, Governor Adeleke, out of Osun State. They say they have money to spend; take their money and vote for APC. The APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, will bring development to Osun State,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has defended its reported freezing of Osun State Government accounts, dismissing allegations that the action was politically motivated.

EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, said the anti-graft agency had taken similar action in the past, citing the Edo State election period as an example.

“Osun State is not the first state where we have taken this kind of action. During the Edo State election before Governor Okpebholo, the EFCC restricted the state government’s account when funds were being moved to suspicious accounts, and we were able to preserve ₦12 billion,” Uwujaren said.
