Sowore to Davido: You Can’t Claim to Stand With People While Cutting Deals With Failed Political Establishment

Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has stated that Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, cannot claim to stand with the people while simultaneously making deals with the political establishment that has failed them.

“You cannot claim to stand with the people while simultaneously cutting deals with the political establishment that has failed them.”

Sowore made the statement while criticising Afrobeats star Davido over his perceived political position amid the ongoing Osun State governorship election.

Sowore accused Davido and members of the Adeleke family of attempting to maintain their political influence in Osun State while simultaneously embracing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the federal level.

“Now you know, @Davido. You guys thought you could have it both ways, opportunism and political hedging,” Sowore said in a social media post.

According to him, the alleged political alignment was driven by personal and family interests rather than the broader interests of the people of Osun State and Nigerians.

Sowore argued that it was contradictory for anyone to claim solidarity with the people while allegedly engaging with a political establishment he described as having failed them.

He said the development should serve as a lesson to Nigerians, urging citizens to pay closer attention to the political interests and affiliations of public figures.

“I hope the lessons have been learned. Nigerians should now know exactly who these people are, what they represent, and whose interests they truly serve,” he added.
