Chinedum Orji Celebrates Old Umuahia Women, Calls for Greater Empowerment
Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as Ikuku, has urged greater investment in women’s empowerment as a pathway to stronger and more prosperous communities.
Orji made the call while joining women of Old Umuahia at their annual August meeting, where he interacted with participants and shared in the celebrations.
He also attended the annual Olokoro Women’s August Meeting at Olokoro Community School, commending the women for preserving the tradition of the gathering and for their continued contributions to community development.
According to him, women remain indispensable to the progress of society and should be given greater access to education, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, healthcare and leadership opportunities.

Orji said meaningful development could only be achieved through collaboration among political leaders, women’s organisations, traditional institutions, youths and other stakeholders.
He further called on the people to remain united and embrace peaceful participation in the democratic process, while reaffirming his commitment to inclusive representation and people-focused development.
Among the dignitaries who attended the gathering was the former Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Chris Adighije, alongside other community leaders and guests.
