#OsunDecides2026: Adeleke Reacts to Election Victory, Says Victory Is for Democracy
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the 2026 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), securing a second term in office.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
The governor won by a margin of 66,252 votes. The ADC candidate, Najeem Salaan, came a distant third with 17,180 votes.
Governor Ademola also lauded President Bola Tinubu for ensuring democracy endures and confirmed that the President has called to congratulate him.
“I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr President (Tinubu). Mr President has called me, and he has congratulated me. Thank you, Mr President, for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it.”
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer, Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, announced Adeleke as the winner and declared him elected for another four-year term.
Reacting to the declaration, Adeleke described the outcome as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State.
“This is a victory for democracy in Nigeria. It’s a victory for the Osun people that have stood by me,” Adeleke said.
The governor thanked voters for their support, saying the result reflected the will of the people.
Also reacting to the result, the spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council in Osun State, Pelumi Olajengbesi, expressed excitement over Adeleke’s victory.
“I am super excited. This is the Lord’s doing; this is the manifestation of God’s hand; this is the will of the people of Osun State,” Olajengbesi said.
He added that the election had demonstrated Adeleke’s popularity among the electorate, saying, “This election has clearly shown that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the man of the people.”
The declaration secures Adeleke’s continued leadership of Osun State for another four years.
