Anambra Govt. Counters Claim of Crack in Arroma Flyover Bridge, Says It’s Stable and Strong

Following the outcry on the current state of Arroma Flyover bridge, the Anambra State Government has countered the narrative stating that the bridge is strong and stable.

Arroma flyover bridge was built by Governor Wilberforce Obiano four years ago at the cost of N5 billion.
Visiting the bridge with a list of journalists, the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, disclosed that what was on the bridge was engineering technicalities which was put in place to accommodate the concrete which tends to expand as the years go by.
Engineer Ifejiofor maintained that the three bridges in Awka, Arroma, Kwata and Amawbia are very strong as they were built to international standards.
Engineer Ifejiofor said the bridges were barricaded to avoid fatality as according to him, articulated vehicles may break down and cause road crash or traffic on the flyover.
He said that the present administration has constructed fifteen bridges, four inherited and eleven completed and still counting and added that Governor Willie Obiano is a man of high taste and cannot accept any shoddy job.
Speaking, the contractor that handled the project, Mr Yusuf Zreb explained that there are lines on the bridge as a result of the expansion Joints for retaining walls which they built to protect the bridge from accident effects.
