Work has begun for the reconstruction of the Iyi Onu Uduma-Nmuri bridge which has become a great concern for the indigenous of Ohafia and Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

The bridge which is being constructed by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA was attracted by the Honourable representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
Speaking on the work, the Media Assistant to Hon. Uko Nkole, Item Onwuka, said on Thursday;
“While preliminary Engineering works are also in progress by The Federal Ministry of Works through her contractor, Messers Hartland Construction Company to deliver a brand new concrete bridge and realign the corridor appropriately.
The repairs are a palliative short term measure to enable passage by the road users while the new bridge is a long term measure that will permanently solve the reoccurring challenges poised by the outdated bridge under repairs.
That said, it is important to state that the earlier two days earmarked for the completion of repairs and reopen the bridge that was scheduled for today 04/03/2021 not realizable and it has become necessary to update all road users on route F107 ABAM -Ohafia End that the bridge closure has been extended for another 21 days to enable the contractor complete the rehabilitation job on the existing bridge.
Both contracts, the rehabilitation and construction of a brand new bridge are running concurrently on-site and surely we are better by the end of the day.
I thank you all for your patience and understanding.
Regards.”
