Court Fines Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan ₦5 Million
The Federal High Court in Abuja has fined Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan the sum of ₦5 million for contempt of court following a satirical apology she posted on her Facebook page.

Justice Binta Nyako, who presided over the matter, issued the ruling on Friday as a preliminary order in an ongoing case challenging Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension from the Senate.
The court held that the senator’s social media post mocked the authority of the judiciary and failed to comply with a previous directive requiring a sincere apology. In response, the judge ordered that the ₦5 million fine be paid into the court registry.
Furthermore, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan must publish a formal written apology in two national newspapers and repost the apology on her Facebook page. The court mandated that all corrective actions be completed within seven days of the ruling.
