Police Nab Motorcycle Robbery Suspect, Recover Four Stolen Bikes
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a suspected motorcycle robber, Chiemerie Okeke, and two alleged receivers of stolen bikes.
According to Tochukwu Ikenga, the Spokesperson of the Command, the arrests were made in the early hours of October 13, 2025, during a joint operation by police personnel from the Nnobi Division under Ogidi Area Command and members of the Awka-Etiti Vigilante Group.
The operation, which took place in Iruowelle Village, Awka-Etiti, led to the recovery of four Kymco 125 motorcycles, believed to have been stolen.
The arrest followed a complaint lodged on October 11, 2025, by a victim who reported that two young men had forcibly snatched his black Kata Pen motorcycle while he and his wife were returning home through Awka-Etiti town.
Acting on credible intelligence and after sustained surveillance, the operatives tracked down and apprehended the suspects, leading to the recovery of the stolen motorcycles.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, minps, PhD, praised the police operatives and the local vigilante group for their swift response and collaboration. He also encouraged residents to continue providing timely and accurate information to law enforcement agencies in the ongoing battle against crime in the state.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
