‘Tinubu Came Prepared, Has Transformed Nigeria’ – Ooni of Ife

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms that are transforming Nigeria, saying the President assumed office well prepared and is already delivering tangible results.

Speaking at a public event on Friday, the monarch said the impact of the Tinubu administration’s policies is evident across both the public and private sectors, adding that the country is witnessing economic developments never before seen in its history.

“President Bola Tinubu came very prepared, and the results are obvious. What is happening in this country, we have never experienced it before. He has transformed Nigeria, and we are happy to be associated with this government,” the Ooni said.

Highlighting key economic indicators, the monarch pointed to the growth of Nigeria’s capital market, which he said is approaching a market capitalisation of over ₦140 trillion. He also noted that the country’s foreign reserves are nearing $52 billion, expressing confidence that the reserves would support imports for an extended period and contribute to the continued stability of the naira.

According to him, the narrowing gap in the foreign exchange market has significantly reduced opportunities for arbitrage and rent-seeking, creating a more conducive environment for real production and investment.

The Ooni further praised the administration’s economic direction, describing President Tinubu’s reforms as a legacy that would ultimately speak for itself. He said the government’s bold decisions are already producing visible results and positioning Nigeria as a more strategic player in the global economy.

He also referenced recent developments in Nigeria’s energy and industrial sectors, including the country’s growing aviation fuel production capacity and ongoing efforts to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Complex through strategic collaboration involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

“I can go on and on about the achievements of this government. On behalf of all the traditional rulers of this country, we are very proud and very happy to be associated with this government,” he said.

The traditional ruler called on political leaders and Nigerians to support the President’s vision for national development, urging those present to applaud the administration’s efforts toward building a better Nigeria.
