Watch As Flood Washes Away Bridge Leaving Students Stranded
Students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO and other road users have been left stranded after a flood washed away a bridge in Imo state.
A video of the washed away bridge by flood has since started going viral as FUTO students and road users trying to link Obinze in Imo state were left stranded.
Stranded road users stood watching as the road continued to break off, leaving them all stranded. The “OBINZE TO FUTO ROAD” is said to have been in a bad condition for long, with the presence of the broken linking bridge. This incident is now a threat to both students and motorist that use the road.


The state of the bridge has been deteriorating since the rainy season started, with residents and motorists calling on the government to fix the road. Emeka Uzoka shared a video of what the road looked like just four days before the complete collapse. He wrote;
“My Able Governor Sir, His Excellency, Daddy @EmekaIhedioha Kindly take 40mins of your time to see this short clip of a Bridge/Road along Futo Road, Imo State. It requires ASAP Response Sir. Location: Obinze – Ihiagwa Road, By Otammiri River Bridge, FUTO road.”

On the same day, another road user called on the attention of the Governor of Imo State on the state of the road, she shared a picture saying;
“Still pleading to His Excellency, that this area of Imo state needs urgent attention as the road which leads to Federal University of technology FUTO Ihiagwa, the bridge is on the verge of collapsing. Save the people of Ihiagwa”
