Dethronement: Sanusi Takes to Court, Files Case Against Banishment
Following the dethronement of the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the latter has filed a law suit against his banishment to the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Following the dethronement of the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former Emir has filed a law suit against his banishment to a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Recall that Sanusi was taken to Awe in Nasarawa State after his dethronement on Monday and given a two bedroom apartment where he will stay till the end of his life.
His team of lawyers led by Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), on Thursday, filed a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020 before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In the lawsuit, they prayed for an interim order releasing him “from the detention and or confinement of the respondents and restoring his rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria, (apart from Kano State) pending the hearing and determination of the applicant’s originating summons.”
