At the Abia State Government House in Umuahia on Tuesday, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu reiterated his commitment towards the financial autonomy of the State Judiciary.

He said this while receiving the forum of the Abia State Nigerian Bar Association after it’s protest all around the nation.
Ikpeazu frowned at the notion that Governors were frustrating the move for independence of the judiciary and urged them to be realistic in their expectation.

Read the post;
“Yesterday, while receiving the Forum of Abia State Nigerian Bar Association Chapters, I committed to ensuring that Abia State judiciary is guaranteed financial autonomy. I will be directing the relevant authorities to work out modalities for the implementation even though these are not easy times for the country in terms of the uncertainties surrounding government incomes all over the country, hence, I disagree with the assertion that Governors were frustrating the move for financial independence of the Judiciary.

While I commend the Forum for going about their agitation peacefully, they need to also be realistic in their expectations given our prevailing national economic situation.
Let me also use this opportunity to reiterate my commitment to the financial autonomy of the Abia State legislature. I believe that such autonomies will further strengthen our democracy, and will do everything to realise them.“
