The governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe has stated that what Abia State needs is not a clannish governor but someone who loves the people and is willing to change the narrative and rehabilitate all sectors of the State.

Mayor Igbokwe popularly known as Don Lulu stated this at the residence of HRH Eze Ofoegbu, Di Awa 1 of Umu Diawa, Chairman of Ndi Eze Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers when he paid a visit on Tuesday to seek the blessings of the royal fathers on the 2023 gubernatorial race.

“What Abia needs now is not a clannish governor but someone who loves the people and is willing to change the narrative, rehabilitate the health sector, and education and also willing to revive every sector in the State.”

Speaking further, Mayor Igbokwe stated that entertainment is like empowerment and revealed his plans to turn Abia into a tourism centre.

“If talented Abians are picked from the grassroots and brought to fame, that will help them fend for themselves and become useful to Abians. This will turn Abia into an entertainment output that will key into tourism globally.
Human capital development, agriculture and especially tourism will bring investors into the State and boost our internally generated revenue.”

When asked how he plans to get the party ticket, he revealed that he has been consulting with people.

“With my track record at Don Lulu foundation, I’m known for my uniqueness to turn things around. I cannot vote for myself alone, people have to do that and that is why we have been moving around consulting and sharing our ideas.
One of the first things we will do is to rehabilitate the infrastructures in the State, which will generate funds for more new infrastructures. We have ceramics,  Adapalm and other things that we will need to invest in.”

“This is 2022 and a time when people are seeking positions in the political system. Abia is for us. If you look at Abia State, the economy, education, infrastructure and all others, I am the one that will do the job. I understand that government and the royal fathers have an agreement which is why I will make sure that you people get what you deserve in my office. We will make sure a hospital is built and the royal fathers have health insurance. This is youth o’clock. We know it’s the time the children you brought uptake over so you can see our performance. We have so many things to do which we have listed in the manifesto of our plans. We have not gone to other places and shared for we said it’s right to meet the royal fathers and get their blessing before stepping out. We have plans for free education in the State so trust us to do the job.”

Responding, HRH Eze N.E. Ofoegbu disclosed that this is the first time a son of the soil has given respect to the royal fathered after purchasing the governorship form to contest election in the State. He called on God to pour his blessings on him as he has respected and honoured the throne of his fathers.

In his closing remark, the Secretary of the Royal Fathers Umuahia North, Eze Nwaigwe blessed Don Lulu while stating that youths must take over in the State as that will give them a chance to affect positive changes in the State.

“Politics is trading. Politics is alliance. Politics is relations with people and nobody does this better than the royal father for politicians might dread going to some places over strife but royal fathers will go there based on a relationship with people. What Ohuhu wants it will get for you are going there on behalf of Ohuhu.”
