Lawmaker Threatens to Disenfranchise Voters Ahead of Imo Gubernatorial Election

In a viral video on social media, the member representing Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, and Obowo Federal Constituency, Chike John Okafor has threatened to disenfranchise voters who want to vote for opposition parties in the Imo State.

He stated this ahead of Saturday’s supplementary election in Imo State. He assured the people that they are in charge of the happenings in the State and will vote for Senator Hope Uzodinma as Governor of Imo State.

“I want to thank you all. I want to thank you for choosing Senator Hope Uzodinma as the candidate for our party. We assure him that we have up to 15 polling units and we will close off everywhere for him. We are going to fight with you all and give him our 100%. No other party is allowed to come to our polling units to vote. I’ve given it to you as an instruction and directive, that no other party should be allowed in our polling units. No other party should set up canopies around. This is our position and we stand by it.”

Meanwhile, about five thugs invaded and carted away a ballot boxes despite the heavy presence of Police Officers around 9.19 am.

According to Vanguard, one of the voters identified as Chibuike revealed that residents were scared for their safety stressing that armored security vehicles were parading the axis when the incident happened.

He said: “We are afraid. You saw how they snatched the ballot box with security people and you it was planned. We are afraid and we are not safe. How can an election be conducted with an armored vehicle? This is wrong.”
