Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah announced that over 700 civil servants have been equipped with digital literacy skills through a partnership involving the Enugu SME Centre, the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), and Tech4Dev.

“This collaboration underscores the shared commitment of our administration and the UK Government to prepare our workforce for the future,” he stated.

Speaking on Thursday, a day after hosting Ms. Gill Lever, the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, at the Government House, Mr. Mbah praised the technical support provided by the FCDO to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission as part of the recent launch of Enugu Smart Schools.

“This reflects our mutual dedication to fostering sustainable development and economic growth,” he added.

The Governor expressed gratitude for the recognition of the state’s developmental progress across various sectors, including infrastructure, water, sanitation, health, business, and security. He reaffirmed that the vision for Enugu is not only ambitious but also impactful.

Part of the statement highlights: “The UK Government has been a valuable partner in our journey toward progress. Their support, particularly in digital transformation, is a game-changer for our civil service. The digital training provided to over 500 civil servants is crucial as we transition from manual processes to a fully digital e-governance system. This initiative enhances service delivery, boosts accountability, and helps us reduce revenue leakages. These are essential steps toward building a more efficient and transparent government.

“As Ms. Lever noted, the longstanding ties between Nigeria and the UK continue to yield positive results. We look forward to exploring new opportunities for mutual growth. Our mission remains to make Enugu a hub of innovation, opportunity, and effective service delivery. With this partnership, we are paving the way for an Enugu State that is both progressive and globally connected.”
