JAMB Schedules Mop-Up UTME, Suspends 113 CBT Centres
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will conduct a mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Saturday, June 28, 2025, to accommodate 96,838 candidates.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will conduct a mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Saturday, June 28, 2025, to accommodate 96,838 candidates.

This includes 5,096 spill-over candidates and others who encountered biometric verification issues during the main examination.
In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin said a special dispensation has also been granted to 91,742 candidates who missed the main UTME, the rescheduled exams, or both.
The mop-up exercise will be held across 183 centres nationwide. However, the board disclosed that 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres have been suspended and delisted for engaging in various “sharp practices” and infractions during previous exams. These centres are currently under investigation, and those found guilty will face prosecution.

“Some examination towns have also been deactivated due to security concerns and ongoing investigations,” Benjamin noted, adding that affected candidates will be reassigned to the nearest available centres.
JAMB expressed appreciation to security agencies, including the State Security Service (SSS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for their role in uncovering identity theft and organized examination malpractice. This includes the arrest and prosecution of impersonators, professional exam takers, and even some JAMB officials, in addition to suspects linked to schools and tutorial centres.
As part of the ongoing crackdown, institutions are being notified about undergraduates caught impersonating UTME candidates, with potential consequences including expulsion and prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999.
JAMB also revealed that special squads of invigilators and security personnel will be deployed nationwide during the mop-up exercise to enhance integrity and monitor compliance.
Candidates eligible for the mop-up exam are advised to begin printing their examination notification slips from June 23, 2025, and to arrive at their centres at least one to one and a half hours before the scheduled 8:00 a.m. start time.
