Clifford University Faculty Officer Remanded for Sexual Harassment of 17-Year-Old Law Student

Obioma Nwokoma, a 70-year-old faculty officer at Clifford University in Isiala Ngwa, has been remanded in a correctional facility in Abia State following his arrest and arraignment on charges of allegedly sexually harassing a 17-year-old female law student, Miss Nwokoma Miracle Chinenye.

The arrest was facilitated by the Okpuala Ngwa Division of the Abia State Police Command, led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Gabriel Udo.

In a statement made on Thursday, Ochiegbu Marvelous E.O., the State Director of the Behind Bars Initiative (BBI) for Abia State, expressed his gratitude to the police for their commitment to justice and their thorough investigation that led to the swift charging of the case in court.

“This courageous action by CSP Gabriel Udo and his team sends a strong message that no one is above the law,” Ochiegbu stated. “It will go a long way in deterring others from engaging in such disgraceful and inhumane acts. It also reinforces public confidence in our justice system and law enforcement agencies.”

Ochiegbu expressed his gratitude to the members of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, Abia State Chapter, for their voluntary services. He also commended the Vice Chancellor of Clifford University for his principled stance against injustice and recognized the parents of the victims for their resilience and relentless pursuit of justice. “You are truly commendable! That’s the type of complainant I want,” he remarked.

The case remains under judicial consideration, with the remand order representing a critical step toward full prosecution and potential sentencing.
