Police Arrest Four Suspects for Armed Robbery in Abia
Four suspected armed robbers have been arrested by operatives of the Abia State Police Command in connection with a series of criminal activities targeting students and residents along the Uturu/Isuikwuato axis of the state.

The suspects: 32-year-old Jerry Chisom of Umagu Ogwuelle; 32-year-old Tochukwu Ugula of Amaidi Achara Uturu; 28-year-old Chinonso Nwankwo of Nbaka Ugwuelle Uturu; and 19-year-old Kingsley Onyekeba of Arodiezongu Ideato in Imo State, were apprehended on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, following a successful raid led by the Divisional Police Officer of Uturu Division.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen C. Chioma, the operation was prompted by a distress report of armed robbers terrorising students of Abia State University (ABSU) and other residents in the Uturu community. The police, acting swiftly and in collaboration with local residents, raided the suspected criminals’ hideout where the four men were arrested.

Items recovered during the operation include one locally made pistol, one knife, an iPhone 7 Plus, an Infinix phone, and a laptop.
The Police Command stated that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are still at large. Meanwhile, further raids have been carried out along the Uturu/Isuikwuato axis, leading to the dismantling of other suspected criminal camps in the area.
Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the joint effort between officers and community members and called on state residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts. He urged the public to report suspicious activities or individuals through the Command’s emergency hotlines: 08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, and 08079210006.
“Say something when you see something,” the CP emphasised.
