Tragedy Strikes UNIUYO as 100-Level Student Dies During Football Match
The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) community has been thrown into mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Prince Josiah, a 100-level student of the Department of Petroleum Engineering.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 21, during a friendly football match at Sun City field, located within the university campus. Eyewitnesses said Josiah collapsed without any warning signs during the game. Despite immediate efforts by his coursemates to revive him and rush him to a nearby clinic, the young student could not be saved.
Sources revealed that he was initially taken to a medical facility close to the campus, where a doctor advised that he be transferred to a hospital.
He was then taken to Anua General Hospital, where medical staff reportedly refused to attend to him. He was eventually moved to Premier Hospital, where he was sadly confirmed dead on arrival.
Josiah was laid to rest on Tuesday, July 22.
Fellow students and staff members have described him as bright, humble, and full of promise.
The university is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
