Mbah Flags Off 5,000-Shop Nsukka International Market

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has flagged off the construction of the 5,000-shop Nsukka International Market, a project he described as a “world-class commercial hub” poised to transform trade, generate employment, and boost the economy of the Enugu North Zone.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Mbah emphasised that the initiative was more than a physical structure; it represents a commitment to inclusive growth.

He assured that traders affected by the ongoing Ogige Market redevelopment would be given first priority in the allocation of shops, reaffirming his administration’s pledge that “development must never leave anyone behind.”

The Nsukka International Market is slated for completion by the end of 2025 and will complement the already completed Nsukka Modern Transport Terminal, forming part of a broader vision to advance infrastructure, commerce, and connectivity in the region.

In addition to launching the market project, Governor Mbah commissioned the newly reconstructed School of Health – Stadium – GRA – Secretariat – Prisons ring road, executed by the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Jude Asogwa.

During his visit, the governor held engagements with traditional rulers from the zone, whom he praised for their continued support and inspiration in driving the state’s transformation agenda.

“I am sincerely grateful to the leaders and people of Enugu North Zone for their commendation of our modest efforts and for the impressive turnout and warm reception that made today truly memorable,” Mbah stated.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to building an Enugu State where “no zone is left behind and every community thrives.”
