Agunechemba Vigilante Group Dismisses Personnel Who Assaulted Female Corps Member
The eight personnel of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group who assaulted a female member of the National Youth Service Corps, Miss Jennifer Edema Elohor, have been dismissed.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, on Wednesday, stating that the personnel would be handed over to the police for immediate prosecution, while warning that the administration of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has zero tolerance for brutality and unprofessionalism.
Speaking at the agency’s headquarters in Awka, Mr Emeakayi said that the personnel were found guilty following investigation done despite pleas from the victim’s family and officials of the NYSC not to prolong the case and revealed that the agency has already settled all medical bills of the corps member, replaced damaged valuables such as laptops and phones, and tendered a public apology to the victim, her family, NYSC, and the general public.
On Tuesday, a viral video showed members of the vigilante group assaulting corps members, an action which Emeakayi described as “totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly condemnable” while in pursuit of suspected cultists on July 23, 2025. The video drew outrage and condemnation from citizens who demanded prosecution of the personnel involved.
