Ude Okochukwu Supported Us During 2023 Election – Otti
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has hailed the support he received from former Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, during the 2023 general election, describing it as a mark of true statesmanship and belief in genuine leadership.

Speaking while formally receiving Okochukwu into the Labour Party (LP), Governor Otti recalled a private conversation they had during the heat of the campaign, where the former Deputy Governor expressed his conviction that Otti was the right man to lead Abia State.
“During the 2023 governorship election, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu supported us. I remember in one of our conversations, he told me that he had watched all those other candidates and had seen that I have what it takes to work for the people of Abia. I’m glad he has given us a pass mark,” Otti said.
The Governor noted that even though Chukwu was in a different political party at the time, he showed courage and integrity by standing with the people and endorsing competence over political convenience.
Otti said Chukwu’s early support was a significant morale booster, especially coming from someone who had been at the highest levels of governance in the state.
Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, a former Deputy Governor and one-time Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, officially joined the Labour Party during a well-attended event that drew stakeholders, party leaders, and supporters across the state.
