Eze Eberechukwu Oji Hints at Major Announcements as Ikeji-Aro 2025 Approaches
His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, has informed the people of Umuaro Okeigbo to expect significant news as the community approaches the Ekekpe celebration on September 26, 2025.

Eze Eberechukwu Oji shared this message during his pre-Ikeji briefing as he prepared to join all Umuaro in celebrating the end of the farming season. He expressed joy that his vision of a prosperous Aro society is gradually coming to fruition in the second year of his ascension to the throne of his forefathers.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) for Ikeji-Aro 2025, Barrister Oscar Chukwuma Okoro, mentioned that he has plans to unveil important details, though he is keeping them close to his chest for now.
The activities organised by the subcommittees of the Central Planning Committee are ramping up as they work to ensure a seamless event. He hinted that the Committees focusing on entertainment, security, logistics, local organisation, protocols, media and publicity, entrepreneurship, and Christian ministry are all working tirelessly to ensure that the event is successful.
Meanwhile, on a day like today, Aro-okeigbo reflects on the fact that Arochukwu is home to a few rare masquerades, which are rarely seen and only appear during important ceremonies. This year’s Ekekpe promises to host some of these rare and powerful masquerades.
Reports indicate that Ugwudike Asaga will visit Amaikpe, and shortly afterwards, the grand elephant masquerade, Ajimegbo of Amuvi Uda, will make a brief appearance. These special masquerades do not compete for prizes; their presence at Amaikpe is to pay homage to Aro ancestors, express gratitude for their love and care for their children, and celebrate the contributions of Umuaro Okeigbo in keeping the community vibrant and prosperous.
While social media is buzzing with events happening in Arochukwu and its surroundings, giving Umuaro who are undecided about a trip home a glimpse of what they might miss in terms of excitement, the community also paid homage to the dedicated sons of the kingdom whose commitment to preserving our heritage is helping to revitalise the community.
As is often the case, people who had initially planned not to travel may find themselves changing their minds and succumbing to the allure of the Ikeji festivities.
With just five days until Ekekpe Aro-Okeigbo, the community is bustling with individuals and groups actively engaged in various preparations for the Ikeji Aro festival.
