Obidient Movement Calls for Unity After Resignation of Mobilisation Director
The Obidient Movement has urged its members to remain focused and united following the resignation of Mr Morris Monye as Director of Mobilisation, a development the group says has drawn reactions it considers “unnecessary and avoidable.”

In a statement issued by Hon. John Ughulu, the movement emphasised that resignations are a normal part of organisational life, but lamented attempts to turn Monye’s departure into what it described as a “public spectacle” aimed at undermining the movement or casting aspersions on its leader, His Excellency Peter Obi.
Ughulu stressed that the Obidient Movement was founded on values of unity, discipline, service, and commitment to a collective vision that outweighs any individual ambition. He noted that public outbursts driven by personal dissatisfaction do not reflect leadership or loyalty and run contrary to the organisation’s principles.
He added that the group was established to strengthen the movement’s structure, but said some individuals have recently placed personal visibility above responsibility, a trend that contradicts the goal of building a sustainable leadership framework for the future.
Calling for reflection rather than division, Ughulu reaffirmed that the movement remains focused on its core objectives and encouraged supporters to recommit to a disciplined and united effort toward a better Nigeria.
“The movement is bigger than any one person, and our journey continues,” he said.
Monye resigned on Thursday, citing unmet short, medium and long-term goals of the movement, calling on Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party candidate, to address the concerns of the people.
