Governor Abba Yusuf Rejoins APC, Pledges Loyalty to Kano First
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), two days after resigning from the New Nigeria People Party NNPP, the party that brought him to power.

Speaking at the event to announce his defection on Monday, Yusuf emphasised that his foremost allegiance remains with the people of Kano State, stressing that governance and service to the state outweigh partisan considerations.
“My loyalty is unwavering; it belongs first to Kano State and its people. Kano first, Kano first, Kano first before any other loyalty,” the governor declared.
Speaking, the Former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje assured Governor Abba K. Yusuf that all aspirants who contested for governorship in 2023 and all aspirants who have the ambition to contest for governorship in 2027 have agreed not to contest against him.
Meanwhile, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Kano State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, has resigned from his position following the defection, while the leader of the NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has said that his principles are not for sale, remaining silent on the defection of his protégé.
