Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested 15 suspected criminals and recovered a firearm, ammunition, and suspected illicit drugs during a raid on identified criminal hideouts in Ozalla community, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of February 16, 2026, was executed by officers attached to the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad following credible intelligence. The raid targeted criminal hotspots at the Four Corners area of the Ozalla community.

According to the Police, the suspects comprise nine males and six females. During the operation, officers recovered two polythene bags filled with dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp. A subsequent search of the area also led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge.

Police authorities disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing thorough screening. Those found not culpable will be released, while individuals found to have committed offences will be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, directed supervisory officers overseeing operations and investigations to sustain the Command’s proactive crime-fighting strategy by identifying and dismantling criminal hideouts across the state.
