ADC Rejects INEC’s Interpretation of Appeal Court Ruling, Alleges Pressure

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the interpretation of a recent court ruling by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the electoral body’s position as contradictory and politically influenced.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson on Wednesday, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party accused INEC of yielding to pressure from the government amid what it described as growing support for the ADC. Abdullahi said the commission’s response to the Court of Appeal ruling “flies in the face of both facts and reason.”

He further alleged that the government is unsettled by the party’s rising political momentum and has intensified actions against opposition groups. According to him, INEC’s stance reflects a broader pattern of interference that undermines democratic processes.

The ADC spokesperson stated that the party is currently reviewing its legal and political options and will make its next steps public in due course. He also called on party members and supporters across the country to remain calm and resolute while awaiting further directives.

Reaffirming the party’s confidence, Abdullahi said both Nigeria and the ADC are on a path of resurgence despite the challenges.
