Abia Govt Launches Investigation Into Molestation, Extortion at ABSU

The Abia State Government has begun an investigation into the allegations of misconduct, exploitation and molestation at the Abia State University, Uturu, ABSU.

According to Alex Onyia, the CEO of Educare on X, a government team is expected to commence investigations immediately into allegations of corruption, intimidation, and unethical practices involving some members of staff.

He emphasised that the government assured that if the findings of the investigation reveal deep-rooted corruption within the system, drastic measures could be taken to restore sanity in the institution.

“If after the investigation it requires us to dismiss 90 per cent of the staff to sanitise the system, we will do it,” the source stated.

This comes after students accused Dr KC Izuogo of the Department of Mass Communication who teaches “Introduction to Advertising,” of compelling students to purchase a course handout for N5,000 and allegedly demanding N20,000 to “sort” the course or risk failing.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the university management nor the accused lecturer had issued an official response to the allegations.
