2027: Nkem Ukandu Withdraws from Bende Federal Constituency Race

Nkem Ukandu, the 2027 House of Representatives race for Bende Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced his withdrawal from the race despite being listed by INEC as the party’s candidate.

Ukandu said the decision followed extensive consultations with his family, associates, mentors and other respected individuals.

He stressed that his withdrawal from the contest does not amount to abandoning Bende or his commitment to the people, adding that he would in due course announce the candidate whose vision and character align with his aspirations for the constituency.

His full statement reads: Withdrawal from the Bende Federal Constituency House of Representatives Race.

Following INEC’s publication of the list of candidates for the 2027 General Elections, in which I was listed as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, I wish to formally announce my withdrawal from the race.

After extensive consultations with my family, associates, mentors and people I deeply respect, I have decided that this is the right decision at this time.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who believed in me, encouraged me and supported my aspiration to serve.

My withdrawal from the race is not a withdrawal from Bende or from my commitment to the good people of Bende.

In due season, I will declare my support for the candidate whose vision, character and commitment most closely reflect what I would have sought to achieve if elected.

As in ADC tradition, please accept my fraternal warm HANDSHAKE.
