Many Persons Killed as Herdsmen Attack IDP Camp

Many persons are feared dead following the attack by suspected herdsmen at the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camp in Benue State on Friday night.

Confirming the incident to ChannelsTV on Saturday, the spokesperson of the Benue Police Command, DSP Sewuese Anene revealed that the attack claimed lives while many were injured.

Stating that the casualty figures were yet to be identified, DSP Anene revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Wale Abasse will visit the scene to clarify what happened and also mentioned that a response team has been deployed to the area.

Recall that a traditional ruler in Apa Local Government Area of Benue along with many others was killed earlier this week before the attackers moved to the Otukpo Local Government Area on Wednesday, killing 46 persons including a 33-year-old son of the local government chairman, and now this at an IDP camp Makurdi, the state capital.
