The Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Mr. Goodluck Iheanachor, has tendered his resignation, citing a personal decision to return to the private sector.

In a formal resignation letter submitted earlier this week seen by Newsleverage, Iheanachor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve but stated that it was time to “pursue other professional interests.”
However, tension sparked at the Ahoada East Council Secretariat. According to eyewitnesses, the premises were abruptly locked down, and unrest ensued among staff and political supporters.

A vehicle belonging to the Secretary of the Council was reportedly vandalised during the incident.
Sources within the council suggest that the resignation may have intensified underlying political tensions, though no official statement has been made linking the unrest to any factional disputes.
