COVID-19: TIMAAS Swings into Action, Writes NURTW, SATOA and Others Over Precautionary Steps
In view of Governor Okezie Okpeazu directives to all interstate parks and buses to procure thermometers for the screening of inbound and outbound passengers to help curb the virus, TIMAAS has swung into action.

In view of Governor Okezie Okpeazu directives to all interstate parks and buses to procure thermometers for the screening of inbound and outbound passengers to help curb the virus, TIMAAS has swung into action.
This was made known by the General Manager of TIMAAS, Comdr. Bright Chinedu Ikeokwu (PHF) in a letter to all unions to help in curbing the spread of the virus.
The statement reads, “Following the Governors directives that adjusted the operation of the members of the above-mentioned Unions as precautionary measures against the rampaging COVID-19 Virus.”
“To ensure full compliance with the Governor’s directives the Traffic And Indiscipline Management Agency Of Abia State (TIMAAS) has written to the unions mentioned above to seek collaboration with them.
In the letter dated 25th March 2020, The agency among other things requested the union’s leadership to inform it’s members of the need to henceforth commence full compliance to the Governors directives which includes that.”
“1. all inter-state bus parks or terminals in Abia state procure and deploy digital thermometers for the screening of inbound and outbound passengers as well as provide hand sanitizers and hand washing materials for use by all staff and passengers.
2. That all tricycles (Keke) operators in the state carry only a maximum of 2 passengers per time and they must sit at the back with only the rider in front.”
“3. That mini buses popularly called “Oke Bekee” are to carry only 5 passengers per time while 14-seater buses are to carry only a maximum of 8 passengers per time with none in front except the driver.
TIMAAS is set to commence the enforcement of the Governors directives.
Finally, the agency hopes that the unions and their members will understand and cooperate as this is meant to last for just four weeks pending further directives.”
