2023 Election: NUC Directs Institutions to Shut Down Activities
Nigerian University Commission has directed all Universities to shut down activities following the upcoming general election scheduled for the 25th of February and 11th of March 2023.
Nigerian University Commission has directed all Universities to shut down activities following the upcoming general election scheduled for the 25th of February and 11th of March 2023.

This followed a consultation with relevant security agencies and as directed by the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.
According to a statement signed by Chris J. Maiyaki, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Commission, it directed all Universities and Inter-University Centres to shut down academic activities from the 22nd of February to March 14, 2023.
It further directed all Vice Chancellors and Chief Executives of Inter-University Centres to shut down their respective institutions until the approved dates.
There have been calls and petitions for Institutions to shut down activities to enable students to travel home to exercise their constitutional rights to vote in the forthcoming election.
