Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has condemned the gruesome killing of a chieftain of the Labour Party in the State, Mr Maduka Zakari at Uturu in Isiukwuato Local government area by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has condemned the gruesome killing of a chieftain of the Labour Party in the State, Mr Maduka Zakari at Uturu in Isiukwuato Local government area by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
In a statement made available by his Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma on Friday, Governor Otti charged security agencies to work assiduously to bring the culprits of the dastardly act to justice.
Dr. Otti described the beheading of the late Mr. Zakari as insane, barbaric, and vicious, and “expressed sadness that the Late Zakari who distinguished himself during the last general election as the Labour Party Campaign Manager in Uturu and who was said to have played active roles as a community leader in fighting to kidnap, had his life cut short when he was supposed to reap the fruits of good governance being initiated by the Labour Party government, and promised that the government would stand by his family and give them all the necessary support required as they deal with this sad loss.”

Part of the statement reads that “the state Chief Executive restated his commitment to ensuring absolute protection of life and property in Abia state in particular and South East in general, which necessitated the recent launch of a joint security Taskforce codenamed “Operation Crush”, an initiative which has caused a serious reduction in all kinds of criminal activities in the state, especially kidnapping at Lokpanta part of the state and assured that security agents would sustain a robust onslaught on those who desire to build a criminal enclave in any part of Abia state.”
