The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has declared controversial Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, wanted in connection with serious allegations, including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

According to a statement released by the agency on Friday, the charges stem from a viral video posted on Instagram, in which the artist allegedly confessed to having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl and claimed to have given her ₦2000 afterward.

The agency stated that this confession triggered multiple reports from the public and prompted an immediate investigation.

Binta Bello, Director-General of NAPTIP, described the case as “highly serious,” emphasizing the gravity of the alleged violation of a minor’s rights. “We are closely monitoring the situation. The rights of the child involved must be protected at all costs,” she said.

If substantiated, the allegations could amount to violations under the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, as well as the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

Flyers featuring Speed Darlington’s image have been circulated nationwide, with the agency calling on anyone with credible information about his whereabouts to contact NAPTIP immediately.

In response to the growing backlash, Speed Darlington denied the incident ever took place, claiming the video in question was intended for entertainment.
