Eze Kanu Oji U-19 Football Competition Ends as Group D Wins Trophy

The Eze Kanu Oji Under-19 Football Competition came to a successful close on December 24, 2025, at the Aggrey Memorial School Field, with Group D comprising Ujari, Ibom, Amasu and Amannagwu emerging as the overall champions.

In the final match, Group D defeated Group C by 2–1 to claim the trophy. As winners of the competition, Group D received a cash prize of ₦500,000. The runners-up went home with ₦350,000, while the third-place team received ₦200,000. A participation sum of ₦100,000 was also awarded to the remaining team.

The event attracted several notable personalities, including the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, and the Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Coach John Sam Obuh while the ceremonial kickoff was performed by the President General of Nzuko Aro Worldwide, Mazi Nnadozie Udensi.

Mazi Chimereze Okeigbo, one of the organisers of the competition mentioned that the competition served as a platform for discovering young football talents.

He stated that outstanding players were recognised, with awards presented for Best Goalkeeper Uchenna Michael Okike, Michael Chukwuma as Best Player and Nwafor Goodness, the Highest Goal scorer by the Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club. Medals were also awarded to deserving players for their impressive performances.

The final match drew a large crowd of football fans and youths including the Special guest of honour Mazi Ike Okoronkwo and other dignitaries, who came out to support and enjoy the competition.
