Man Arrested Over Illegal Possession of Firearm
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Uchenna Nwafor for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in Awka.
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Uchenna Nwafor for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in Awka.
Uchenna was arrested on Wednesday by police patrol team attached to B Division in Awka while on a stop and search along Juhel Pharmacy Nodu, Awka.
The suspect was intercepted in a tricycle and when he was searched, it was discovered that he was carrying a locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, the suspect was immediately arrested and is assisting the police with useful information to unravel his motive for having a firearm after which he would be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, the command has intensified a robust patrol to stem the tide of cultism and other nefarious activities in the State.
